At Heritage Title, we are committed to protecting you and your clients during the closing process. That’s why we have introduced a secure and efficient identity verification system through our trusted partner, ClosingLock.

Here’s how it works: Once we receive an email address and phone number for your client, an identity verification request will be sent to them via email. The email will contain a link to the ClosingLock portal, where clients will be asked to log in using a two-factor authentication (a code will be texted to their phone number). After logging in, clients will be prompted to start the identity verification process. They will choose the country their government-issued ID is from and upload a live photo of the ID, front and back. They will then enter a few basic details about themselves and proceed to move forward. Once completed, ClosingLock will deliver instant results with details on what passed, failed, and needs review.

Common Questions: Clients may have questions about the necessity of verifying their ID on a cash transaction or the safety of uploading their information to the portal. We completely understand their concerns and would like to reassure them that our system is completely safe and secure. In fact, it is necessary to verify their ID because fraudsters are increasingly impersonating sellers to scam unsuspecting buyers out of their funds. Properties such as vacant lands, second homes, vacation, and rental properties are among the most common targets. By utilizing our identity verification system, buyers, sellers, and settlement companies can move forward with confidence.
